Important Medi-Cal Changes

Update as of September 9th, 2025

Good News: Medi-Cal is NOT changing for many people!

These people can keep Medi-Cal with dental and no premiums, regardless of immigration status:

  • Children (under 19 years old)
  • Current and former foster youth (under 26 years old)
  • Pregnant and post-pregnancy people (up to one year after the end of pregnancy)

What is Happening?

Starting January 1, 2026, adults 19 and older who have unsatisfactory immigration status will no longer be able to apply for Medi-Cal.

If you are already enrolled before January 1, 2026, you can keep your coverage as long as you stay active and renew on time.

To learn more about coming changes to Medi-Cal, read our blog post here or reference the Department of Health Care Services website.
