Hepatitis C Screening & Treatment

Hepatitis C is a liver disease also known as HCV. Hepatitis C can range from a mild illness lasting a few weeks to a serious, long-term illness.

Since the early stages of Hep C are often asymptomatic, it can be challenging to identify and treat this disease. At Via Care, we offer everything from prevention, to testing and treatment for Hep C — helping our patients stay on top of their health.

Without care, Hep C can cause serious health problems like liver cancer and cirrhosis. Hep C testing is especially important for people who are pregnant, people who currently inject drugs, people with HIV, and people with abnormal liver tests/liver disease.

Baby Boomers & Hep C

The baby boomer generation, those born between 1946 and 1964, represents a quarter of Americans. Yet, they carry a disproportionate burden of hepatitis C, accounting for a staggering 75% of all cases. This means that 1 in every 30 baby boomers is living with this silent, potentially devastating disease.

While all boomers face a risk of hepatitis C, those who received blood transfusions before 1992 or used intravenous or intranasal drugs, may unknowingly harbor this silent threat – even if it was just one-time use experimented in college.

If you or a loved one were born between 1946 and 1964, we encourage you to get tested for Hep C. It’s a simple step that could protect your health and provide peace of mind.
